Clarendon has long been known as Arlington's shopping and dining mecca, and a hip location to live and work. Many have flocked to it for its blend of national retailers and local independents. Zoso Flats, a new luxury apartment building on Filmore Avenue, one block from the heart of Clarendon, has become the hot new location for Clarendon's newest independent retailers.

In recent months, four new Arlington shops have opened their doors. Artisan Confections, Jason Edelmen's popular artisan-crafted chocolate emporium moved from its Lee Highway location to Zoso. Screwtop Wine Bar opened its doors - and a few bottles - in November. American Flatbread - offering wood-fired flatbreads, salads, drinks and more opened in late 2009. Bakeshop, Clarendon's first "cupcakery" will begin selling its made-from-scratch sugary goodness in just a few weeks.

These small retailers -- some who were home-grown in Arlington and others who have searched for the perfect location and now call Arlington home -- make Clarendon one of the region's most popular neighborhoods. Its balance of nationally known shops and restaurants and independent, local establishments help maintain Clarendon's character and authenticity, while making it a convenient and sought-after place to live, work and visit.

Be sure to stop by and welcome these new Clarendon residents to the neighborhood.
