Arlington Wins CoreNet Award
On Wednesday, May 20 Arlington Economic Development (AED) was honored at the CoreNet Mid-Atlantic 5th Annual Corporate Real Estate Awards of Excellence. The CoreNet award for Economic Development in the category of Corporate Relocation was given to AED for its work to bring the Corporate Executive Board (CEB) to Arlington.
Jennifer Ives, Director of the Business Investment Group at AED accepted the award. "Whenever a really fabulous deal gets put together, there are always many, many people who have worked hard to make it happen," said Ms. Ives. "In this case, we had great support from the developer, JBG, the Commonwealth of Virginia, Arlington County leadership and the Corporate Executive Board itself. All these organizations went the extra mile to put together a deal in which everyone walked away a winner."
The award was judged on innovation and creativity, transferability and outcome. This is the first time that AED has won a CoreNet award. The organization has been a finalist in previous CoreNet Global awards competitions.
About the deal:
The Corporate Executive Board, a premier research and consulting firm, was located in multiple offices throughout Washington D.C. less than two years ago. A quickly growing company, CEB was interested in marquis office space that would not only consolidate their offices, but reflect their status as a successful organization in the Washington, D.C. area.
Through the use of an innovative package of incentives, marketing and some key real estate – and despite stiff competition from surrounding jurisdictions – AED was able to attract CEB to Arlington, bringing nearly 2,500 jobs to Virginia and spurring the development of Waterview, a one-million-square-foot, mixed-use project featuring trophy office space, designed by the famed architectural firm of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners.
